Proposal Review Schedule
IMPORTANT NOTE: The IRB cannot review a submission until it has been electronically signed and submitted by the Principal Investigator (PI). Students and adjunct faculty cannot be PIs for purposes of IRB research.
IRB attempts to meet the review schedule listed below. However, the submission rate for IRB proposals periodically increases resulting in an increased review time. Level I and II proposals are processed on an ongoing basis during the semester. Investigators do NOT have to wait for the full board to meet to have a Level I and II proposal reviewed. Please see "Winter Break Schedule" below for information about the changes in the review schedule in December and January.
- Level I submissions and resubmissions that are complete and electronically signed by the PI (not a student or adjunct faculty) will be reviewed within seven (7) working days.
- Level II submissions and resubmissions that are complete and electronically signed by the PI (not a student or adjunct faculty) will be sent to the reviewer(s) within 48 working hours of being received. Investigators should expect at least 13 working days before they receive a review.
- Level III submissions and resubmissions that are complete and electronically signed by the PI (not a student or adjunct faculty) will be assigned to the next full board meeting if they are received at least ten (10) full working days before a board meeting. Important Note: There are no scheduled meetings of the IRB in June, July, or August. If a Level III proposal is submitted, a meeting will be called.

The Minnesota State University, Mankato IRB only functions on a part-time basis in the summer, so reviews will be delayed from the normal review schedule.
