Open Access to Scholarly Communication with Jessica Schomberg
Wednesday, March 26, 2025
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Publishing in an open access (OA) journal means your research is more visible to people who don’t have the financial resources of US university libraries. Historically, marginalized people have had little power in the scholarly ecosystem, from research design to dissemination. Publishing OA can move us closer to equity because it provides a broad public with access to scholarly conversations they might otherwise be locked out of. But how do we find an OA journal that is reputable and that doesn’t charge ruinous article processing charges (APCs)? The presenter will talk about their process and decisions in this area.
